Each January we call a church-wide fast as we set aside 5 days of seeking God for the year ahead. Right at the beginning of the new year this week is designed to prioritise our relationship with God and focus our attention on what matters most.

We invite you to join us!

Here's the practice for you this week:

  • Set intentional time aside each day to pray

  • Be clear when your fast is going to start and for how long (24 hours, 3 days, 5 days).

  • Set the day and time for when your fast will end - be specific.

  • As you fast on the day/s you decide, each time you feel a hunger pain or think about food or take a lunch break (with no lunch!), use it as a prompt for prayer. Turn your heart and mind to God and ask Him to grow more of a passion for Him. Find your strength not in food, but in His Spirit drawing close to you.

  • Focus your prayers each day on the assigned areas.

  • Spend time in the word of God - meditate on scripture.

Today, take time to thank God for establishing his Church on the earth. Thank him that you get to be a part of it! Pray specifically for Re:Hope Southside, Royston, Westend (Glasgow) and Belfast. The leaders of those locations and their families, for continued financial blessing, and for grace in this season of transition.

Ask the Holy Spirit how He would like you to take part in supporting Re:Hope in the coming year. (Financially giving, praying consistently for leaders, committing to a serving team…etc. Write down what you hear, share it with a BRT leader or close friend, and agree to act on it!)

Philippians 4:19

“And my God will supply all your needs according to HIs riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Hebrews 13:20-21

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will…”

Pray your biggest prayers today! As a church we exist to lay the foundations for a long lasting reawakening in these lands. We long to see lives changed and transformed by the love of Jesus.

What are areas of your life you deemed impossible? Who are those people you’ve been contending for to come to faith in Jesus Christ? Today bring them before the Lord, and declare that He can do above and beyond what you could ever hope or imagine! Soak in the promises of who God is, and let Him fill you with fresh faith for the year ahead.

John 16:33

“In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Ephesians 3:20-21

“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energies you.”

Psalm 4:3

“May we never forget that the Lord works wonders for every one of his devoted lovers. And this is how I know that he will answer every prayer. Tremble in awe before the Lord, and do not sin against him. Be still upon your bed and search your heart before him.

Let’s pray for these individuals to be filled with love for Jesus as they minister here and abroad. Pray that their love for the Lord would fuel their mission and strategies for sharing the gospel. Declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and that God will complete what he began in them! Pray that their labour in love would produce a great harvest of souls as they put their hope in Jesus.

  • Pray for April Stirling Mills as she shares Jesus with students on campuses here in Belfast.

  • Pray for Dave Rankin as he steps into the Sharing Jesus role here at Re:hope Belfast. Ask God to give him clear vision for his new role in this year ahead.

2 Peter 3:9

"The Lord is not slow to fulfil his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance".

Philippians 2:13

"God will continually revitalise you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him".

2 Thessalonians 2:17

"Now may the Lord Jesus Christ and our Father God…encourage your hearts and inspire you with strength to always do and speak what is good and beautiful in his eyes."

Spend time praying for all those we support both locally and globally; that the Lord would empower them with joy, creativity, and insight to work out his justice on the earth. Pray for multiplication of provision, practical understanding, and deepening intimacy with the Holy Spirit this year.

- Happy Home, India.

- Storehouse, Belfast.

Psalm 89:14

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”

Psalm 92:12

“The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our Go. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright.”

Today, pray for unity in the Church here in Belfast and across these lands.  Pray for times of refreshing, and for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the protection and health specifically for pastors and their families.

Pray for NUA Festival taking place in May of this year as churches from north and south of the border gather to worship and cry out to God for a awakening and fresh revival in these days.

Pray Ephesians 1:15-23:

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,  far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Take time today to thank God that he is the one who establishes kings and governments. Take time to acknowledge that Jesus reigns as king over the nations. Pray blessings, wisdom, grace and favour over government leaders, city council members, teachers, and city workers.

Pray prayers of repentance over our city. Thank God that his mercy triumphs over judgement!

Psalm 25:21

Cause them to be men and women of integrity, obedient concerning us,

1 Tim 2:2

that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty.

Prov 2:10

Let wisdom enter their hearts, and let knowledge be pleasant to them.

Prov 2:11

Let discretion preserve them and understanding keep them,

Prov 2:12

to deliver them from the way of evil and from evil men.

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.”
