Re:Hope Next Generation Bible Church launched in Glasgow, Scotland on the 9th of January, 2005 with a passion to see the next generation turn to Jesus.
We want you to know that God loves you; and that there really is hope for you and your future. The past 13 years have been a time of watching God strategically bring the right people to Re:Hope during each season. We know He is continuing that work right now.
We believe God has much more in store for us as a church — many more people who will come to know Jesus, more people to baptise, more people to believe and fall in love with the bible, and more people to rise up mighty in prayer.
THE STORY SO FAR
For a decade, our connection to Belfast has been unusually strong. We have seen hundreds of Northern Irish students come through Re:Hope during their university years. As far back as 2007, our Senior Pastor, Brian Ingraham has been in speculative discussions about when Re:Hope might plant a church in Belfast.
In the autumn of 2015, Josh and Ruth Binstead felt God calling them to plant a church in Belfast, but at the point of saying yes, the vision of how and where was not in place.
These details really came into place when Josh brought God’s call before Brian Ingraham and from that point the vision of Re:Hope Belfast began to materialise.
Josh continued to pastor a church in London from that Autumn through until May 2016. It was during this time that conversations were being had with people in Belfast and details of what this plant would look like were being talked about with Brian and the team in Glasgow. Each month Josh would spend a few days travelling from London to Belfast to spend time with people and share the vision that was developing.
Over the next nine months the team continued to grow and in May 2016 Josh and Ruth made the move from London to Belfast with their young son Reuben.
Throughout the summer small gatherings of people started to meet in the basement café space at May Street Presbyterian with new people showing up each week. In August, Stephen and Abby Mayes joined the core team, with Stephen taking on the role of Worship and Creative Pastor.
In September, 2016 we moved into a new venue, with a new format, within May Street Church which was the unofficial launch of a Sunday service. From September to December we continued to meet on Sundays building our Launch Team.
On Sunday 8th January, 2017 we had our official launch with various staff and elders present from our campus in Glasgow.
Ever since launch we have continued to grow and expand in many ways, but we have always remained true to our calling of growing disciples and people who are passionate about prayer.
In December 2018 we transitioned out of May Street Church and secured two new locations for the coming months. The first being a number of units at Portview Trade Centre on the Upper Newtownards Road in East Belfast. This space is now up and running as an office, and our building team are working hard behind the scenes to transform the remaining space into our new home.
On Sunday 6th January, 2019 we celebrated our 2nd birthday, yes in a different location, but it is God who remains constant, even if our location changes. Malone Lodge Hotel, a short walk from Queens University Belfast is our current venue for Sunday gatherings.
It has been amazing to play witness to all that God continues to do amongst us both on Sundays and throughout the week. We are blown away by stories of healing and breakthrough in peoples lives, it leaves us expectant for all the more that God will do amongst us in the weeks to come.
We continue to believe that God has so much more for us both here in Belfast and in Glasgow and it's a real joy and privilege to be part of building His church. There is so much more room and so many more people to reach, so consider this your personal invitation to join us as we press into all that God has for us both now but also for the future.
We would love for you to come and be part of the journey. We look forward to meeting you soon!
